THE OCTOPUS PROJECT CUIDATE

The latest offering from Texan psych-rockers The Octopus Project may be short at only 1 minute and 38 seconds but it sure as hell packs a punch! 'Cuidate' is a full-throttle garage banger from start to finish. The song began its life as a blown-out single mic recording of a bass loop with live drums playing along and you can kind of tell. However, when legendary producer, mixing engineer and former member of Mercury Rev, Dave Fridmann, came on board, the band decided to clean it up a little and pass the role of destruction onto him. The result is both gnarly and punchy as Fridmann perfectly captures the original edginess of the song and makes it sound massive. The Octopus Project's new album 'Memory Mirror' is out on the 7th of April via the band's own Robot High School Label. - HM
